DURANT – In celebration of National Doctors’ Day, AllianceHealth Durant is honoring its medical staff by donating to a local charity.

The day is set aside to recognize physicians for their skills, sacrifice and service to the community. True to their ongoing care and compassion toward others, AllianceHealth Durant physicians decided to select a nonprofit organization to receive a donation in lieu of tokens of gratitude the hospital typically provides them in honor of Doctors’ Day.

“We are grateful to the doctors on our medical staff for the steadfast care provided to the thousands of patients we treat each year,” said Kevin Samrow, CEO of AllianceHealth Durant. “It is humbling to see them give back as we seek to honor them on National Doctors’ Day.”

The AllianceHealth Volunteers Auxiliary was chosen by the physicians to receive their donation. The auxiliary volunteers their time to operate the gift shop within the hospital as well as greet visitors as the main entrance. The proceeds from the gift shop are given back in the for of scholarships, specifically in the medical field.

Jill Gordon, treasurer for the Auxiliary, said she was happy to receive the gift and that is would make a difference.

“With this money, we will be able to start giving scholarships again to the workers here at the hospital who want to go on and continue their education in the nursing and medical field.”
