DURANT – The Durant Police Department will host an open testing event on Friday, May 3 at 1 p.m. Open testing is a physical fitness challenge and one of the first steps to join the department as an officer.

The department is actively recruiting and anyone interested in a law enforcement career is encouraged to participate. Applicants need not be CLEET certified.

“We will send you to the CLEET academy once you’re hired,” said Joe Clark, Interim Chief of Police. “We are seeking both certified and non-certified applicants. If you have any interest in joining the department, you are welcome to show up and test.”

Job requirements to become a Durant Police officer include passing the physical test, a written exam, background investigation and mental health evaluation.

To sign up or learn more, please contact Sergeant Brandon Mitchell at bmitchell@durant.org by Wednesday, May 1. For updates and announcements regarding the event, follow the Durant Police Department on Facebook at Facebook.com/DurantPD.
