DURANT – The City of Durant’s Parks and Recreation Department has announced the first day of the 2024 pool season.

The pool at Carl Albert Park will officially open on Friday, May 17, for Splash Day. Admission will be free for the event, and open swim will be from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Following Splash Day, the pool will be open weekly from Sunday to Saturday. Admission fees remain the same as the previous season: students ages four to 15, $4 per person; adults 16 to 64, $5 per person; seniors 64 and older, $4 per person. Children ages zero to three may enter for free. Individual and family season passes are available for purchase.

This year, swimming lessons will be offered in the following age categories: four to six; seven to nine; and 10 or older. Lessons may be booked online at https://secure.rec1.com/OK/durant-ok/catalog, as well as private pool parties.

Water aerobics classes will begin on Monday, June 3. Participants must contact the pool manager to register.

Parks and Recreation is seeking to hire additional lifeguards for the 2024 season. Potential applicants can learn more or apply at Durant.org/jobs.
