Jimsye Boman

Jimsye Boman of Durant passed peacefully at home on Friday, August 25, 2023 at the age of 72. She was born in Tulsa, Okla., to James and Mary Estelle (King) Smith on April 8, 1951.

Jimsye was a court reporter and was a member of the Oklahoma Court Reporters Association (OCRA). In her retirement she enjoyed gardening, growing roses, quilting, and crafting. Her most notable quality was her love of others. She was known for being everyone’s third mother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her and called her “Mom”.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debbie Boman and significant other Josh Estep of Durant, Okla.; her sons, Paul Boman and Sabrina Bergmann of Durant, Okla. and Christopher Wheeler of Wolfe City, Texas; her grandchildren: Jacob Jones, Brittany Boman, Ryleigh Boman, Miraya Wheeler, and Hayslee Wheeler, as well as her great-granddaughter Lucy Garrett. Jimsye is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, James and Mary Smith; her brother, Scott Smith; her guardians, Pete and Opal King, and her son, Peter Boman.

Her funeral was held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel. Chase Stampley, Jonas Burns, Keydrick Stevenson, Rachel Stevenson, Todd Anderson, Amanda Cooper, Kaci Bagley, and Melista Lewis served as Honorary Pallbearers.

Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 N. Fifth Ave. in Durant, Okla.
