Wayne Timberlake, Jr.

Wayne Timberlake, Jr., of Calera, Okla., passed from this life on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 at the age of 56. He was born on Tuesday, May 1, 1962 in Durant, Okla. to Amos Wayne and Shirley Ann (Holland) Timberlake.

Wayne was a lifelong resident of Bryan County and enjoyed woodworking, fishing and helping others. He was a member of the Mead Baptist Church and dedicated 30 years to law enforcement.

Wayne worked for DPD for several years as patrol, detective, and administration, leaving in 2000 for bigger and greener pastures.  He was a member of the P.D. family. For those who have not had the pleasure of knowing him, he’s a person you just had to love.  Mischievous, is the first word that comes to mind, due to the impish grin he usually wears.  He was one of those people with no filter.  Words usually pop out of his mouth before thought, then comes laughter when realization sets in.  He was hysterically funny!!!  His enthusiasm for whatever his latest endeavor around the P.D. was always contagious.

He was the organizer for several programs in the department: McGruff, D.A.R.E., K-9, P.A.C.E, and the Narcotics Unit, to name a few.  He started S.W.A.T. and got an old bread truck donated, that the members painted white and was dubbed “THE SWAT VAN”.

Preceding him in death were his parents and grandparents.

He is survived his wife Sheila (Long) Timberlake of the home to whom he dedicated 16 years of marriage; son, Jason Wayne Timberlake of Seminole, Okla.; daughter, Tiffany Timberlake of Denison, Texas and her children, Devon, Frankie and Amelia; sister, Lanita Winford and husband Mike of Sherman, Texas; nephews, Nick Winford and wife Tammi of Pottsboro, Texas, and their two sons, Ryan and Landon, Ben Winford and Tiffany of Atlantic, Iowa. and their three daughters Emma, Miley and Aubrey as well as six grandchildren and many other extended family.
