Two injured in wreck south of Achille

BRYAN COUNTY – Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident early Sunday morning in which alcohol was suspected to be the cause, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Deana Irvin, 45 or Bonham, Texas, was driving a 2001 Lincoln westbound on State Highway 78 approximately 11 miles south of Achille at about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday when the vehicle ran off the roadway to the right, overcorrected, ran off the roadway to the left, overturned one time, the report stated. One passenger, Gary McRae, 55 of Bonham, was ejected and thrown an unknown distance from the vehicle.

Irvin was transported to AllianceHealth in Durant in stable condition with head and trunk internal injuries. McRae was transported by air ambulance to Medical City Hospital in Plano, Texas, in serious condition with head and trunk internal injuries.

The cause of the accident was DUI, according to the report. The seatbelt was in use by the driver, but not by the passenger.

The Colbert EMS and Yuba Fire Department assisted the OHP in the investigation.
