Two injured in one-vehicle wreck near Bokchito

BOKCHITO – Wet conditions may have contributed to a one-vehicle accident outside Bokchito on Sunday afternoon.

Rebecca Gonzales-Lopez, 41 of Bokchito, was driving a 2015 Nissan car west on U.S. Highway 70 at about 5:15 p.m. on Sunday when the vehicle lost control, departed roadway to the left, overturning one quarter time, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The accident occurred about 1.4 miles west of Bokchito.

Gonzales-Lopez was transported by private vehicle to Alliance Health in Durant where she was admitted in stable condition with injuries to trunk.

A passenger, Daniel Timmerman, 19 of Durant, was also transported to Alliance Health and admitted in stable condition with injuries to head, arms and legs. A second passenger, Raul Gonzales-Lopez, 39 of Bokchito, was not injured.

It was raining on Sunday afternoon and the vehicle was traveling at a speed unsafe for the condition, according to the report.

Seat belts were in use by all occupants.

The OHP was assisted by the Bokchito Fire Department in the investigation.
