John Henry Choate

John Henry Choate, a resident of Mead, Okla., and veteran of the United States Air Force, passed from this life in Mead, Oklahoma on September 29, 2018 at the age pf 71. He was born in Bennington, Okla. to Rufus Choate, Sr. and Itsie (Battiest) Choate on Oct. 20, 1946.

John retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church in Bennington. John enjoyed watching football and baseball games, and he also liked to work on vehicles.

Mr. Choate is survived by his sons, John Jon Choate of Mead and Jeremy James Choate of Durant, Okla.; grandchildren, Elijah Cole Choate of Mead, Oklahoma, Bella Rose Pagano of Mead, and Nashoba Nash Choate of Fla.; brothers, Andrew Choate and wife Norma of Finley, Oklahoma, Franklin Choate of Bennington, and Melvin Choate of Winterhaven, Calif.; and also survived by his sister, Ruth Morgan and husband John of Sherman, Texas.

Mr. Choate was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Rufus Choate, Jr.; and sisters, Frances Muskrat, and May Varner.

John’s family would like to suggest in lieu of flowers memorial be made to the Sulphur Springs Methodist Church, PO Box 123, Bennington, Okla., 74743.

Family hour will be form 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 at the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Jesse Pacheco officiating.
