Tammy Elix

Tammy Renae Elix was born January 14, 1962, in Durant, Okla., to Clayburn and Madeline (Peters) Elix. Tammy entered the Gates of Heaven on January 19, 2022, in Durant, Okla. at the age of 60.
Tammy has been a lifelong resident of Durant, graduating from Durant High School and Southeastern with her accounting degree. She has been married to Thomas Dewett for more than 30 years. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved all animals and was known for being very neat and tidy. Most of all she loved the Lord and she deeply cared about her family.

Tammy is preceded in death by her parents, Clayburn and Madeline Elix; grandparents; sister, Beverly Sue Ghandianloo; niece, Leigh Long; nephews, Todd and Vance Long; special cousin, Susie Pistubee and her beloved cats, Kitty and Tia.

Loved ones left behind to cherish her memory are her sisters Gwenn, Laura and Tracey Elix all of Durant; husband, Thomas Dewett of Bennington; nephew, Vince Long; great nephew, Eli Long; cousins, Perrin and Tim Deal, Christie and Michael Arkansas, Sherran Glinn, Erica and Dane Cunningham, Skylar and Jake Flowers, Sherri Baer, Andrew and Tiger Baer, Layah and Chris Tigee, Kandi and Randall Coyle, Cheryl De Caire Womack and Lisa De Caire Collins; special cousins, Nancy and Lonzo Wallace and Kathy Steve and outside cats Fluff, Carson and Sonny and pet deer, Bella.

A celebration of Tammy’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Pastor Wayne Bailey will officiate. Interment will follow in Ravia Cemetery with Jeremy Allen, David Pittman, Wayne Dewett, Roger Hamill, Gene Grounds and Chris Shelton serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
