Sadie Juanita Ruth

Sadie, better to know those who loved her as Juanita, was born Feb. 8, 1930 in Durant, Okla. to Voyle and Gladys (Haworth) Trimble. She passed on July 28, 2021, at age 91.

After graduating high school, Ms. Ruth held many jobs, but her favorite was serving as a rural mail carrier in Bryan County. Her last route, before retiring in 1993, was the Calera 74730 route. She could spend many hours sharing stories and memories about delivering mail in all types of weather, the people on her route, and the joy she had in meeting people. She always treasured the friendships that she made while delivering mail. She married Ralph Ruth in November 1981 and they resided in Calera before she was widowed in 1996.

Juanita was an enthusiastic gardener who treasured her plants and working in her yard every day. She also loved to collect pecans from her trees and observe birds that were around her yard. Juanita was an accomplished seamstress who could be found in her sewing room any time of day. Most of all, Juanita loved spending her time in retirement teaching her knowledge to the many children that she watched over the years. This was especially true through her donations of time and service to Bryan County 4-H, of which she was made an honorary member in 2009.

Ms. Ruth is survived by her daughters: Elizabeth Pellegrino and husband Steve of Waldport, Ore. and Marcel Kintz and husband Richard of Hempstead, Texas; her grandchild, Scott of Waldport, Ore.; sisters-in-law, Jean Trimble and Bernice Trimble.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Ralph Ruth; parents, Voyle and Gladys; and her siblings: Ouilda Simpson, V.A. Trimble, Callie Ruth Blakey, Kathy Human, and Royce Wayne Trimble.
