Roger Gene Norton

Roger Gene Norton, 68, of Calera, was born on October 4, 1953 in Duncan, Okla. to the late Mr. Obie Gene Norton and Mrs. Barabra Jo (Johnson) Norton. He departed from this life on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021 at his home in Calera, Okla.

Roger was raised in Countyline attending school at Velma-Alma where he graduated with the class of 1971. He began working in the oilfield after school where he eventually owned and operated Nortons Well Service in 1981. In the late ’80s, Roger and his father started N&N Oil Company buying their first oil lease.

He married the former Ms. Mary Katherine Boyer and they were blessed with three children, Kristie, Randy and Keith. Roger enjoyed being with family just sitting around talking. He also enjoyed fishing, camping with the kids spending most of their time at Lake Texoma and Pinto Lake. Roger really loved a good project, from building an aluminum boat, rebuilding a ranger and even a motor home. But most of all, he really loved playing the guitar where he taught the boys to play and even played in the church band.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters-in-law, JoRene Norton, Debra Norton, and Patricia Norton; and a nephew, Timothy Norton.

Roger is survived by his sons, Randy “Red” Norton and wife Christina of Velma and Keith Norton and wife Carrie of Forsythe, Ill.; daughter, Kristie McKee of Durant; brothers, Ronnie Norton and wife Connie of Duncan, David Norton and wife Janice of Velma, and Jon Norton and wife Melissa of Countyline; sister, Priscilla Norton of Houston, Texas; grandchildren: Tristan McKee, Caitlin McKee, Blake Norton, Jack Norton, Grace Norton, William Norton and Charlie Norton; and by a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Randy Norton, Keith Norton, Tristan McKee, Ronnie Norton, David Norton, and Jon Norton. Honorary Bearers will be Tom Firestone, Mike Waitman and Matt Waitman.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 3-5 p.m. at Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.

Graveside services for Mr. Roger Gene Norton are scheduled for 2 p.m.., Monday, Jan. 3, 2022 at New Velma Cemetery with Rev. Kerry Glasgow officiating. All are welcomed to attend services.

Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.
