DURANT – Conservative Republican Cody Maynard, a CPA, announces that he has filed his paperwork with the Oklahoma ethics commission to become a candidate to serve Oklahomans in the State House of Representatives, District 21, which will cover parts of Bryan and Marshall counties.

“I am running to represent the Oklahoma House of Representatives District 21 because my wife, Crystal, and I want to ensure that Oklahoma remains a beacon of freedom and a place to see dreams realized for generations to come,” Maynard said. “Serving as a legislator is an opportunity to ensure that Oklahoma is a state embodying pro-family policies, including but not limited to: protecting the pre-born, honoring the sanctity of life, advocating for parental and guardian rights, and promoting policies that reduce poverty and champion education.”

“As an experienced accountant, I will work to ensure oversight of Oklahoma taxpayer dollars both at the state and federal level. I believe we must always leave things better than we found them and be forward-thinking for the fiscal health of the next generation’s prosperity. In order to do this, I will advocate for constitutional priorities and a balanced state budget that reduces state debt and grows our investments. Additionally, I will be intentional in supporting our region’s economic development by attracting emerging markets and innovative banking industries that support our strong manufacturing appeal and also our ever-growing tourism footprint.”

Cody began his accounting career in 2009 with Hendrick Healthcare System’s accounting department, going on to serve in 2012 as Accounting Director and now Business Administrator for the eleven campuses and affiliated outreach operations that operate in partnership with Victory Life Church, including food bank, missions, and education operations which serve communities across Oklahoma, Texas, and Colorado.

Cody Maynard was born in Gatesville, Texas in 1986. He attended Gatesville ISD and served as a camp counselor at Camp Koinana. Maynard graduated from Abilene Christian University with his Bachelor of Business Administration with a double major in Accounting and Financial Management in 2008, and his Masters in Accountancy in 2009. He married his wife, Crystal, in May of 2009, where they then moved to Durant in April 2010. Cody and Crystal have three children over the last 11 years they have established growing roots in Durant and across the Texoma region.

Maynard is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and serves on Victory Life Academy Lead Team, Keep Durant Clean and Green, and volunteered at Women in Need, a domestic violence shelter.
