James Russell

James “Lil Boy” Russell, a veteran of the United States Army, and resident of Bennington, Okla., joined his Lord and Savior in Bennington on Sept. 11, 2021, at the age of 74. James was born in Lone Oak, Okla. to Garland J. Russell and Vera Mae (Waldrum) Russell on August 10, 1947.

James married his cherished wife Faye in Hugo, Okla. on September 30, 1977.

James was a passionate outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, and trap. He liked to visit the Casino and try his luck, but the thing he enjoyed the most was anything his grandchildren did, especially watching them play basketball and softball.

Mr. Russell is survived by his beloved wife, Faye of the home; David Russell and Tonia Tomson of Durant, Okla., Billy Russell and wife Becky of Bennington, Okla.; brothers, Vernon (Babe) Russell of Durant, Okla., and Clovis Russell of Sherman, Texas; grandchildren: Katelyn Russell of Bennington, Okla., Ethan Russell and Reanna of Durant, Okla., Levi Russell and Calee of Atoka, Okla., Carly Ray Ann of Bennington, Okla., Stormie Russell of Bennington, Okla., Macayla Hickman and Tyler of Durant, Okla., Kyle Vandenburg and Ashtan of Durant, Okla., Kyle Dancer of Bokchito, Okla., Alisha Terry of Bokchito, Okla.; great-grandchildren: Paisleigh, Emma, Mahaley, Madelyn, Cayson, Jaxten, Braxton, Kaden, Addison, Jessie, Parker, Krountry, and Shaylie, and he is also survived by his beloved dog, Peaches.

Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Vera Russell; brothers, Billy and Charles Russell; in-laws, Scott and Almeda Johnson; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy Johnson and wife Kathy, Charlie Norris and wife Pat, Wayne Johnson and wife Barbara, and sisters-in-law, Lynn Russell, Sue Russell, and Wanda Russell.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, at the Wade Baptist Church in Wade with Bro. Charles Williams and Mike Crocker officiating. The honorary pallbearers will be Rick Raney, Clay Andrews, David Russell, Hopper Phillips, Donald Phillips, Troy Phillips, Larry Knight, John Teel, and Mike Crocker.
