DURANT — First United takes great pride in being a community bank and serves a greater purpose by inspiring and empowering others to spend life wisely, including customers, their families, and their communities.

First United recently partnered with several local businesses and customers in the community to hold a Gatorade and bottled water drive to benefit local first responders. First United employees kicked off a “Battle of the Bottles Between Banks” contest between the Durant, Madill, Calera, Colbert, Bokchito, and Hugo locations to help collect Gatorade and water bottles. The Durant Walmart team won the contest with over 7,800 bottles collected.

Pruett’s in Durant matched $800 of First United’s employee fundraising efforts. Through this partnership with Pruett’s and other businesses in the communities, there were approximately 37,000 bottles collected throughout all of Southeastern Oklahoma. The bottles collected will be donated to first responders in each of these communities.

Brandon Johnson, regional president at First United, talked about his gratitude in how the community stepped up for an event like this.

“This is a way we can express our appreciation for what they do every day for us,” Johnson said. “We couldn’t have done it without the community’s help and community partners like Ray Pruett with Pruett Foods, who was also a big part of this.”
