DURANT – First United Bank – Durant Main becomes the first worksite to achieve designation as a Blue Zones Project Approved™ Worksite in Durant, Ok. Blue Zones Project® – Durant presented First United Bank with a Certificate of achievement and hosted a small ceremony that included snacks and juices from Krush’D Vitality Kitchen.

“First United Bank is a major reason why Blue Zones Project was brought to Durant,” said Blue Zones Project – Durant Community Program Manager Brandon Martin. “Over the years they have engrained a culture of employee health in the form of their Spend Life Wisely program. Becoming a Blue Zones Approved Worksite is just another example of the dedication First United Bank has made to their employees and to the community they serve.”

To become a Blue Zones Project Approved™ Worksite, First United Bank had to demonstrate their commitment to bettering the employee environment through proven best-practices and initiatives that are aimed to improve the overall well-being of individual employees. By just making a few small modifications to their daily operations and engaging their employees on a holistic approach to their health, FUB is now leading the way in worksite wellness.

“What an honor it is to be a Blue Zones Approved Worksite!” said Barbara Carnahan, First United Bank Director of Health and Wellness. “Our employees are the heart of First United and being able to offer them a Blue Zones environment that helps them on their health journey and enhances their quality of life is of utmost importance,.”

Melissa Perrin, Executive Vice President, Chief Culture and Communications Officer – First United Bank, has been a champion for the Spend Life Wisely program and is passionate about each First United employee having an opportunity to better their health.

“At First United we believe that in order to Spend Life Wisely, we must focus on our health, both mentally and physically.” Perrin said. “We believe that when we feel our best, we are able to show up at our best for those we love and serve. Being a Blue Zones Project Approved™ Worksite validates our efforts to foster a work environment that supports our employees’ health journeys, and it sets the bar to continue to put their health first.”

Blue Zones Project is a locally led and locally funded well-being improvement initiative designed to enable community members to live longer, happier lives with lower rates of chronic diseases and a higher quality of life.
