FFA and 4-H to hold chili dinner and auction on Thursday

BRYAN COUNTY – It’s that time of year again – time to come out and support the agricultural education at Durant.

The Durant FFA and 4-H are hosting a chili dinner on Thursday, Jan. 17 at the Bryan County Fairgrounds from 11 a.m.-8 p.m.

Tickets for the all-you-can-eat chili and dessert dinner are $7 in advance and $9 at the door.

Jeremiah Adams, agricultural education instructor and FFA advisor at Durant High School, encouraged everyone to come out and support the youth with this fundraiser.

“Your support helps all of our FFA kids throughout the year,” Adams said. “You all help us travel to and attend national convention, state convention, COLT Conferences, ALD & MFE Leadership conferences, speech contest, career development events and much much more.”

There will also be a live auction with hunting items, farm items, FFA-made items and more and there will be a silent auction as well.

“This fundraiser also helps us in the classroom as well,” Adams said. “Our ag mechanics class have built many shop built items including swings, benches, a picnic table and many more quality metal items to be either in the silent or live auction.

“We appreciate the outpouring of community support and look forward to seeing you there.”
