Dorothy Glenn

On April 15, 2023, Dorothy Jo (Lee) Glenn left this world surrounded by family singing her favorite hymns. She fought many years struggling with numerous broken bones, surgeries, and failing health. Heaven rejoiced as she joined the picking and grinning that was waiting to welcome her.

Dorothy was best known for being a master seamstress and crafter. She loved creating. Anytime you were at her home, she had a sewing project going, something cooking on the stove, and bluegrass music playing. She was an instructor at Levi Strauss company until the factory closed in 1984. She made beautiful wedding gowns, prom gowns, costumes, and a multitude of Christmas tree skirts, blankets, and other items too numerous to count.

Dorothy married her high school sweetheart Bill in 1952. They began a family and enjoyed a lifetime together of 63 years.

She was a preacher’s daughter, member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and faithful believer. She dearly loved spending time with her family, friends, and church family. In 2021, she welcomed her puppy, Noah. He brought her the greatest joy in the last few years of her life.

She is survived by daughter, Debra Luke and husband Eddie of Calera, Okla.; grandchildren, Lance Luke and wife Kristie of Calera, Okla.; granddaughter, Stephanie Luke of Calera, Okla.; great-grandchildren: Maddison Williams, Evan Luke, Sydney Williams, and Kelsey Luke all of Calera, Okla.; and sister, Glenda “Tootsie” Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Glenn; parents, Roy and Zenobia Lee; brothers, Marion, Gene, and Donald Lee, and sister Nida Brinlee.

A memorial service to celebrate her life was held on April 17, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church.

Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 N. Fifth Ave. in Durant.
