Donald Wayne “Don” Rosson

Donald W. “Don” Rosson was born on Nov. 20, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to William (Bill) and Delores Gibson Rosson.

After graduating from Antlers High School in 1976, Don attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla. While in Durant, he met Lavenia Jeffcoat and they were married on June 3, 1978 in Bokchito, Okla.

Donald joined the Arkansas Army National Guard in 1987. While serving his country , he received many medals and ribbons including two Army Commendation Medals, the Army Achievement Medal seven times, the Army Good Conduct Award three times, the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal. He also received the Non-Comissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service ribbon, the Sharpshooter Marksmanship Qualification badge with the rifle bar, and Marksman Marksmanship Qualification badge with Grenade bar.

Don was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, he grew an amazing garden every year, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Rosson entered his eternal rest on May 21, 2020 at home surrounded by family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lavenia Rosson of the home; devoted son, Joey and his wife Kari of Antlers, Okla.; two grandchildren, Shaun and Sophie Rosson; mother, Delores Rosson; sisters, Ollie May Golden and Cindy Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by a son, Donnie A. Rosson; father Bill Rosson; and grandparents Argus and Eva Rosson and Douglas and Lena Gibson.

Graveside services to honor Don’s life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Bokchito Cemetery, his final resting place with Brother Tim Owen officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Terry Duncan, Jerry Duncan, Billy Sam Smith, James Campbell, Thomas Rutherford and John Hancock. The family will accept friends Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
