Following the Special City Council Meeting and Workshop on Monday, March 27, the City of Durant has announced meeting dates for the next phase of strategic planning.

At the previous workshop, participants were asked to attend break-out groups focused on key subjects identified by Community Perception Survey results. Those groups included infrastructure; safety and crime; jobs and workforce; poverty alleviation; trust and community building and quality of place.

The groups were tasked with identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats specific to Durant, as well as a list of goals. The public is invited to continue the discussion at the next round of meetings.

In order to encourage participation by the greatest number of residents, each of the meetings will take place on public property at the Donald W. Reynolds Library and Community Center.

Infrastructure – April 10, 6 p.m.
Poverty Alleviation – April 17, 6 p.m.
Quality of Place – April 18, 6 p.m.
Jobs and Workforce – April 24, 6 p.m.
Trust and Community Building – April 24, 6 p.m.
Safety and Crime – April 27, 6 p.m.

Notes from each of the breakout sessions are available online at https://durant.org/DocumentCenter/View/3076/3272023-Meeting-Minutes-and-Notes

    Good job Durant!

  2. Robert Bruce says:

It would be nice if the city of Durand would fix the roads as there are many potholes and many roads need to be overlaid or repaved just throwing asphalt in a hole with water in it does not fix the hole the asphalt comes out and your left with another hole

The street markings are non-existent on almost all streets. If driving in the evening can not see them at all. Don’t know if I am driving in the correct lane. It’s a wonder there are not more accidents. Is street paint so hard to purchase?
