DURANTThe Choctaw Country Markets in Boswell and Clayton recently launched the Double Up Oklahoma program, making fresh produce more accessible to both communities.

In partnership with Hunger Free Oklahoma, the Double Up Oklahoma (DUO) program aims to give SNAP EBT users increased access to fresh fruits and vegetables.

When customers purchase SNAP-eligible items using their SNAP EBT benefits at these participating Choctaw Country Markets, they will receive a dollar-fordollar match, up to $20 per day, towards the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables. The Double Up vouchers that customers receive are good towards fresh produce without any salt, sugar, oils, or fats

According to Leslie Young, Program Director for Double Up Oklahoma at Hunger Free Oklahoma, “The Double Up program offers SNAP customers an incentive to make healthy food choices while supporting local grocers. We’ve heard customers say that Double Up Oklahoma has changed the way they shop and feed their families while promoting better eating habits, especially for their children.

The Choctaw Country Markets are the first grocery stores across Choctaw Nation to participate in the DUO program.

“We are incredibly excited about the positive impact this program will have on our community,” said Icy Conn, Senior Director of Retail Operations for Choctaw Nation. “By supporting local participants and encouraging healthy eating habits, DUO will contribute to the overall well-being of our communities. We believe that everyone deserves access to fresh, nutritious food, and this program is a significant step towards achieving that goal.”

Double Up Oklahoma is made possible through support from our partners and participating firms which can be found here: DoubleUpOklahoma.org.
