Calera’s Madeline Schutts serves as Senate page

Sen. David Bullard, R-Durant, joins Calera High School senior Madeline Schutts, who served as a page for the Senate during the 11th week of the 58th Legislature from April 12-15.

OKLAHOMA CITY Calera High School senior Madeline Schutts has completed a week of service as a page for Sen. David Bullard, R-Durant. Schutts served during the 11th week of session from April 12-15.

Pages serve vital functions during the busy legislative session. They attend Senate committee meetings and daily sessions of the full Senate. The pages toured the newly renovated state Capitol and met with Gov. Kevin Stitt and Senate Pro Tempore Greg Treat. Each week, they also participate in a mock legislative committee meeting along with a floor session, called Pageville, where they get first-hand experience presenting and debating current bills from the 2021 legislative session.

Schutts is a member of the Academic Team, National Honor Society and Yearbook. She has volunteered at the Special Olympics in Bryan County. She is also a performer at Shawnda Rains Entertainment Group in Denison, Texas. Schutts plans to attend college to study art and science.

She is the daughter of Durant residents Steve and Shannon Schutts.
