Bennington shuts out Soper, claims district title

BENNINGTON – With Emily Fisher in the circle, the Bennington Bears blanked Soper in a run-rule shortened contest and won the district championship. BHS will move on as one of sixteen teams to make it to the regional level of the playoffs.

Fisher gave up two hits and struck out two as well in four complete innings in which she threw 45 pitches.

Eight Bennington batters recorded at least one hit, with Makenzie Atwood, Carly Russell and Lindsay Witt going 2-for-3 on the afternoon. Atwood, Russell and Witt each had at least one RBI.

The Bears are now 22-6 on the season and await placement in the next round of the Class A playoffs.
