Al Burchfield

Hester Allen Burchfield, 83, of Kingston, Okla. passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2020 at the hospital in Durant, Okla. He was born on August 2, 1937 in Weatherford, Okla. to the late Hester Allen Burchfield and Hattie Dodson Burchfield.

Al was raised in the Fort Bayard, N.M. and later moved to Enid, Okla. where he graduated high school.  He received an honorable discharge after serving in the Navy and the Air Force.

Al married Yvonne Herring on August 15, 1959 in Mount Olive, N.C. where they lived before moving to the Kingston area in 1961. He worked for Catfish Bay Marina before joining the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in 1967. Al worked as Highway Patrol for 37 years and retired in 1995. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madill and he enjoyed fishing and hunting in New Mexico and deep-sea fishing.

Al was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debbie White; and sister, Shirley Burchfield.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Burchfield of Kingston, Okla.; children: Terry Burchfield and wife Cindy of Madill, Okla., Don Burchfield and wife Stacey of Durant, Okla.; Tammy Jackson and husband Rodney of Kingston, Okla.; grandchildren: Kimberly White, Brandon Burchfield and wife Allison, Matthew White and wife Liz, Bradley Burchfield, Tayler Burchfield, Holdyn Burchfield, Dillon Jackson and wife Ashley, Justin Jackson; great-grandchildren: Preston Burchfield, Kason Jackson, Gunner Burchfield, Cooper Jackson and brother, Billy Burchfield and wife Linda of Waco, Texas.

Visitation from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. with a family hour from 7-8 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.

Service will be Friday, Dec. 18, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, Oklahoma.  Interment will be at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, Oklahoma. Ron Crews will officiate the service.

Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.
