Leila “Sue” Taylor, a loving mother, grandma and sister passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 in Denison, Texas. Leila was born to Eldridge Battiest and Ruth (Mackenzie) Battiest in Dayton, Ohio on May 29, 1953.
Leila was a resident of Durant for more than 20 years. She worked for the Choctaw Nation for many years. She enjoyed arts and crafting, playing the piano, filmmaking, and making jewelry. Leila had a wonderful love for animals. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Leila is survived by her daughters: April Taylor of Midland, Texas, and Carla Taylor of Durant, Okla.; Son: Jonathan Taylor of Durant, Okla.; Grandsons: Dylan Crawford of Durant, Okla., Isiah Marris of Durant, Okla., and Joshua Childers of Midland, Texas; Granddaughters: Stephanie Welch of Elkins, Ark. and Amber Childers of Midland, Texas; Great-grandson: Ashton Lee of Elkins, Ark.; Brother: Glen Battiest of Durant, Okla.
Leila is preceded in death by her parents Eldridge and Ruth Battiest, and brothers Kenneth and Dennis Battiest.
A memorial service celebrating Leila “Sue” Taylor life will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 at 902 NE Fourth Ave in Durant.
