Frances Gail Wylie, went to her Heavenly home on Oct. 2, 2018. She was born to her parents, Robert Malahy and Oline Gumm Malahy, on May 18, 1934, in Durant, Okla. She had one sister, Sara Delay.
Mrs. Wylie was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Wylie, parents Robert and Oline Malahy, sister Sara Delay, grandson Rob Wylie, and great-grandson Maverick Dizmang. She is survived by her son, Ray Wylie and his wife, Cyndi; daughter, Amy Wylie; grandson, Thomas Joseph (T.J.) Wylie; granddaughter, Cheyanna Vogeler; great-granddaughter, Haley Vogeler; and very special “bonus” family, Ericka Wilson Sisk, and Steve and Debbie Wilson.
Gail, as she was known, married the love of her life, Wayne on June 7, 1954 in Durant. She was an educator for 30 years. She served as school choir director, as well as church choir director. She was an excellent pianist and church vocalist. Church and her faith were an important part of Gail’s life. She and Wayne were very active in the restoration of Highland Cemetery in Durant.
Mrs. Wylie was an excellent cook and hostess, and was known far and wide for her specialty, her delicious Martha Washington candy. She lovingly passed along her recipe to her daughter-in-law, Cyndi, who is honored to carry on the tradition. During the time that Wayne was an officer in the Army, they hosted many parties and gatherings for other officers. The hospitality continued as they opened their home to friends and school staff wherever they lived.
Gail enjoyed playing bridge, and regularly played with a group of friends in Durant.
