Oleene Phipps, a beloved family member, and resident of Caddo, Okla. joined her Savior in Caddo on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018 at the age of 87. She was born in Caddo on Aug. 11, 1931 to Sylvia Ray Ballew and Bonnie Bell (Howard) Ballew. Oleene married Bobby Gene Phipps in Sherman, Texas on Oct. 9, 1948.
Oleene lovingly dedicated her life to caring for her home, and family. She was a talented seamstress that took pride in her work. Oleene loved working with her hands creating beautiful quilts, and sewing. She attended the Caddo Baptist Church. Oleene enjoyed any time spent watching her cherished grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participate in the all their sporting activities.
Mrs. Phipps is survived by her children, Brenda Self of Caddo, Debbie Wheat and husband Ed of Caddo, Donna Heil and husband Dan of Hooker, Okla., Teena Chalk and husband Steve of Caddo, and Joe Phipps and wife Darla of Caddo; grandchildren, Tonia Miller and husband Todd of Caddo, David Self and wife Dustee of Wichita, Kan., Laci Peevyhouse and husband Lucas of Caddo, Oklahoma, Brian Wheat of Caddo, Eric Wheat and wife Tracy of Caddo, Sarah Heil of Dodge City, Kan., Lyndsay Robison and husband Daniel of Roberta, Okla., Amber Carpenter and husband Thomas of Durant, Okla., Aaron Chalk of Caddo, Zachary Phipps and wife Ashleigh of Tecumseh, Okla., Morgan Lowry and husband Cory of Caddo, and Spencer Phipps and wife Skye of Caddo, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Ty Miller, Tobi Miller, Karsyn, A.J. and Rylan Peevyhouse, Zac and Tanner Wheat, Paitln, Parker, and Phallyn Lowry, Foster and Palmer Phipps , all of Caddo, Adam Poston and wife Melinda, Regan, Kate, and Ezra Self all of Wichita, Kan., Ryan, Leah, and Avery Robison of Roberta, Okla., Adley Carpenter of Durant, Isaac Phipps of Tecumseh, Okla.; great-great grandchildren, Camri Miller of Caddo and Millie Poston of Wichita, Kan.; she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mrs. Phipps was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents, Ray and Bonnie Ballew; granddaughter, Tammy Ellen Wheat; brothers, Ardie, Roy and Wayne; sisters, Leotta, Leola, Laveria, Burta, Annie and Valdean.
A celebration of Oleene’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 16 at the Caddo First Church of the Nazarene with Bro. Anthony Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Gethsemane Cemetery with David Self, Brian Wheat, Eric Wheat, Zachary Phipps, Spencer Phipps, and Aaron Chalk as pallbearers.
