DURANT – Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident early Saturday morning.
The wreck occurred about two miles east of Durant on Old Highway 70 at about 3:56 a.m., according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The driver and passenger are both 16-year-old males and neither name has yet been released.
The driver was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed and departed right side of the road, then struck a tree. The front-seat passenger was pinned, removed by the Durant Fire Department using the Jaws of Life, then transported by Air Evac to Medical City in Plano, Texas, where he was admitted in stable condition with head and leg injuries.
Driver stated he fell asleep, according to the report.
Seatbelts were in use by both in the vehicle.
