Terry Simmons, 68, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, deep love, and selfless devotion to those she cherished most.
Born Terry Faye Combs, she shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life, Dan Simmons. Together they raised two children, Jeff and Jessica. They built a home centered on faith, family, and unconditional love while making their lives in Caddo and later Durant, Oklahoma. Their marriage was a beautiful example of commitment, perseverance, and partnership.
Terry was a devoted wife, a loving mother, an extraordinary grandmother, and a proud great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Dan Simmons; her son, Jeff Simmons and his wife, Ava, of Leesville, Louisiana; and their children, Henry, Violet, Evangeline, and Lincoln. She is also survived by her daughter, Jessica Remington, of Durant, Oklahoma; Jessica’s son, Trenton Remington and his wife, Paige, and their newborn daughter, Alena, Terry’s beloved first and only great-grandchild; and Jessica’s daughter, Taylor Remington and her boyfriend, Corbin Massey, of Durant, Oklahoma.
To know Terry was to know a woman of remarkable strength, which came from her unwavering faith in God. Her faith guided the way she lived, the way she loved, and the way she cared for others. She demonstrated compassion, grace, and steadfast love throughout her life, and those who knew her were blessed by her example.
Nothing brought Terry greater joy than her family. Her home was a place where children and grandchildren were always welcomed with open arms. Whether she was doing crafts, playing card and board games, sharing laughter, or simply enjoying time together, she created countless memories that will be treasured for generations. She had a special gift for making everyone feel loved, valued, and at home.
Terry’s greatest accomplishment was not found in possessions or achievements but in the family she nurtured and the faith she lived every day. Her kindness, wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love shaped the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. Though her family grieves her passing, they find comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior and that her love will continue to live on in each of them.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished. Her family rejoices in the promise that because of her faith in Jesus Christ, this goodbye is only temporary, and they look forward to the day they will see her again.
Her memory will remain a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
