Lavon Williams

Lavon Williams was born on Saturday, March 27, 1937 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Martin and Clara Barnes. She passed from this life on Sunday, May 17, 2026 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 89.

Lavon was raised in Anadarko and worked as a waitress as a teenager. After graduation, she was employed at the bank in Weatherford, Oklahoma for a brief time. Lavon married the love of her life, Bill H. Williams, on July 27, 1956 at the First Christian Church parsonage in Anadarko. They would have been married for 70 years in just a couple of months. After their marriage, Lavon began working for the phone company for several years before embarking on a career in the oilfields. She worked as a secretary and eventually climbed up the ladder and became a landman until her retirement.

Lavon enjoyed reading, caring for her flowers, and eating a good meal. Lavon and Bill went on several road trips and she absolutely loved her poodles.

Lavon was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty and Ruby; brothers, V.H., Gene and David; and a niece Susie.

She is survived by her husband, Bill H. Williams of the home; sisters-in-law, Debbie Galimore of Oklahoma City and Kay Williams of Gracemont, Okla.; a brother-in-law, Larry Williams of Norman; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Viewing and visitation hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026 at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant.
