Darrell Lynn Hart of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at the age of 76. He was born on April 24, 1949, in Caddo, Oklahoma to William (Slim) and Hazel Hart. He married the love of his life, Janet Richardson, on her family farm in Durant, Oklahoma on August 9, 1974.
Darrell served in the National Guard Reserve for six years. He enjoyed woodworking, doing mathematics but most of all he was a family man who loved his family with everything he had. While in Durant, Darrell began his career with the Katy Railroad-a job he truly loved-and remained with the company through its merger with Union Pacific. His career took him to several locations before his retirement, after which he moved back home to Oklahoma to be closer to his family. Darrell and Janet were long-time members of Mead Baptist Church before moving to Duncan, where they joined New Hope Baptist Church.
Left behind to cherish Darrell’s memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Janet Hart of the home; his three sons: Jimmy Hart and his wife Lori of Marlow, Oklahoma, Randy Hart and his wife Donna of Marlow, Oklahoma, and Matthew Hart and his wife Mandi of Calera, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Preston Hart and his wife Jeryn, Shayna Gaus and her husband Brandon, Amanda Schiavoni and her husband Kyle, Michelle Dimauro, Michael Dimauro, Hunter Hart, Fisher Hart, Cydni Ahern and her husband Scott, Dorie Busby and her husband Gage, Scyler Trease, and Maverick Hart, along with numerous great grandkids, his niece Teri Hart, nephew Bill Hart, and his honorary brother Dane Edwards.
Preceding Darrell in death are his parents Slim and Hazel Hart, and his brother Dub Hart.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 10 a.m., at the Mead Baptist Church in Mead, Oklahoma with Phillip Wesley of Mead Baptist Church officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera, Oklahoma with Jimmy Hart, Randy Hart, Matt Hart, Preston Hart, Brandon Gaus, and Fisher Hart serving as pallbearers.
Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
