Longtime Caney resident, Steven Lee Plumbtree was born on Monday, April 11, 1960 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Marion and Rubye (Day) Plumbtree and passed from this life on Monday, September 29, 2025 in his Kingston home at the age of 65.
Steve grew up and was raised in Lawton where he graduated high school. After high school, he began working for Pepsi-Cola delivering and setting up vending machines for a few years. Steve married Faith Carpenter on July 9, 1988 in Duncan, Oklahoma. Steve built fences in the Lawton area for several years before moving to Caney in 1993. He was employed by Potter’s Sausage in Durant and his last employment was with Sundowner Trailers in Coleman.
Steve enjoyed fishing, playing video games, and watching game shows especially Jeopardy. He loved watching horror movies and he was a faithful, diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Nicole Wyatt; and cousins, Kathy Day and Kenny Day.
He is survived by his wife, Faith of Kingston; sons, Jeremy Plumbtree of Kingston, and Joshua Plumbtree and his wife Rhiannon of Caney; granddaughters, Trinity and Everly Plumbtree; brother, Mike Plumbtree and wife Kathy of Sterling, Oklahoma; sisters Sue Plumbtree of Duncan, Oklahoma, Shirley Miller and husband David of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Aileen Dickerson and husband Burl of Marlow, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel in Durant with Bro. Jeremy Parham officiating.
