Dortha Mae Belcher, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born on January 11, 1937, and passed from this life on May 23, 2024.
For 35 years, Dortha and her husband owned and operated Belcher’s Locksmith in Durant, Okla., a testament to their dedication and hard work. They served their community with pride and built lasting relationships through their business.
Dortha was known for her unwavering love and support for her family. Her home was always a place of warmth and comfort, where her loved ones gathered to create lifelong memories. Her kindness, generosity, and strong spirit were a source of inspiration to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Wilburn Belcher; her parents, Fred and Hester Anderson; her brother, Connie Anderson; her grandchildren, Stephen Nichols, Lisa Kay Buchanan, Gary Cook, and Donnie Cook; and her son-in-law, Steve Childs.
Dortha is survived by her six loving children: Hazel Southerland, Debbie Buchanan, Jimmy Jones, Mary Carlile, Eva Williamson, and Dortha Childs. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory and carry on her legacy.
Family night will be held on Monday, May 27, from 6-7 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, where friends and family can gather to remember and celebrate Dortha’s life.
The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Grace Baptist Church, followed by her interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Fernandez, Jimmy Fernandez, Kenneth Fernandez, William Southerland, Alfred Cook, and Michael Nichols. Tyler Childs will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Dortha Mae Belcher’s legacy of love, strength, and dedication will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
