DURANT – Breydon Johnson made history for the Legacy Christian Eagles on Thursday night. The junior crossed the 1,000-point mark with a 26-point performance on the road at Mill Creek.
Johnson is averaging 20.9 points per game for the Eagles this season to go with 7.6 boards per contest. He put up 15.9 ppg as a sophomore and 14.9 ppg as a freshman.
The junior now has 1,006 point for his career. As an added bonus, his brother Brody dished him the ball and recorded the assist on the shot that brought him to 1,000.
Johnson has scored at least 20 points 13 times this season, at least 30 points three times and posted three double-doubles.
LCS head coach Jeremy Sheriff spoke about the effort Johnson has put into improving his game through the years.
“He has a lot of talent, but he has even more work ethic,” Sheriff said. “He’s always spending extra time practicing and working on his shot.
“One of the biggest things this year is that his point totals are going up without him having to take more shots. He is finding ways to get to the free throw line and his free throw percentage is better this season.”
LCS is 11-8 on the year.
