Rosemary Riddle of Durant, Oklahoma, was born in McAlester, Oklahoma, on June 26, 1939, to Otto Wylie and Bobby Rose (Abbott) Highfill and passed from this life August 8, 2023, at the age of 84.
In 1942, “Rosie” moved from Collinsville, Texas to Durant, Oklahoma, graduating from Durant High School in 1957. On June 6, 1967, she married the love of her life Wallace Lee Riddle in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Known for her iconic hairdo and immaculate sense of style, Rosemary was a dedicated worker with long-term roles at JC Penney, J.C. Potter, and First United Bank, which resulted in many friendships. She was also a proud member of First Christian Church in Durant, Oklahoma, and in her spare time, enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, music, and entertaining guests.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, O.W. and Bobby Highfill; husband, Wallace Riddle; son, Jason Riddle and daughter, Merry Carter.
Rosemary is survived by daughter, Kay Lozier and husband Jim of Calera, Oklahoma; son, Terry Riddle and wife Etoya of Durant, Oklahoma; and son, Lee Riddle and wife Heather of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren: David Buchanan of Calera, Oklahoma, Stacy Turner of Calera, Oklahoma, Coby Riddle of McAlester, Oklahoma, Lindsey Riddle of Crowder Oklahoma, Austin Riddle of Rockwall, Texas, and Bo Riddle of Durant, Oklahoma, as well as other extended family and friends.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at First Christian Church in Durant, Oklahoma with Bro. Skip Robinson officiating. Pallbearers: William Fahrendorf, Truman Smith, Gary Hammel, Keith Stanford, Larry Conditt, Skip Robinson, Don Brimage and Ed Walker.
