Anita J. Barton of Durant, Okla., passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Friday, June 23, 2023 at the age of 87. She was born on September 9, 1935 in Rattan, Okla., to Teddy Lee and Etta Victoria (Dillard) Lane. Anita married her husband Glendale Barton in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 27, 1954.
Anita enjoyed taking care of her home and family as a homemaker. She faithfully served as a teacher in Sunday School for many years at Brown Baptist Church. She was a former member of Brown Baptist Church and Harmony Baptist Church in Atoka, Okla. Anita was talented and enjoyed painting, sewing, and her flowers. She loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed by them.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Glen Barton of Durant, Okla. and Darren Barton and wife Cari of Denison, Texas; daughter, Carrie McClure and husband Robert of Durant, Okla.; grandchildren: Angela Pierce of Durant, Okla, Serena Foster spouse Jason of Little Elm, Texas, Glen Barton II of Oklahoma City, Okla., Lindsay Hall spouse John of Durant, Okla., Robert McClure, Jr spouse Nicoleta of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mason McClure spouse Kaci of Durant, Okla., as well as three great grandchildren: Brooke Barton, Jensen Pierce, Dallas McClure.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Teddy and Etta Lane; her loving husband Glendale Barton; and great grandson, Jared Pierce.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday June 26, 2023 at New Zion Cemetery in Atoka County with Brother Tanner Jones officiating.
Glen Barton II, Robert McClure, Jr., Mason McClure, and John Hall will be serving as pallbearers.
Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 N. Fifth Ave. in Durant.
