Kenneth Floyd was born Thursday, October 25, 1951 in Fort Worth, Texas to Kelley Wayne Floyd and Helen Louise Floyd (Matney). He passed from this life on Saturday, March 18, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family at the age of 71.
Kenneth grew up in the Mesquite, Texas area. He started working at the age of 14 when he began installing carpets and laid many floors for the next 52 years until his health began declining. Kenneth proudly served with the United States Army for six years. Kenneth married LaNesa Matney (Gatlin) on April 1, 2003 in Sherman, Texas. He loved classic cars of all kinds, NASCAR, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs play. Kenneth’s joy was the time he spent with his great grandbabies and teaching his two-year-old how to swim last summer. Kenneth had a “borrowed” dog named Koda, who is his daughter’s that Kenneth adopted and kept him company during his time of illness. Kenneth was a jokester and always enjoyed good humor.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, Kelley Floyd and brother-in-law, Dickie Foster.
He is survived by his wife, LaNesa of Durant, Okla.; his mother, Louise Floyd of Justin, Texas; children: Christy Floyd of Durant, Okla., Lisa Wyatt of Durant, Okla., Julie Long and her husband Kevin of Washington, Joel Floyd and his wife Meagan of Belton, Texas, and Britni Wood and her husband Abe of Washington; step-children: Misty and Brien Coffey, Maranda and Justin Pittman, Jeremy and Ashleigh Williams, Gerred and Michelle Williams, Troy and Barbara Hart, Tracey and Kelly Hart, and Jared and Lynne Hart; son-in-law, Justin Hankins; daughter-in-law, Kristi Rhoades; grandchildren: Brianna, Katelyn and Nikolas Wyatt, Ransom Floyd, Paxton Reynolds, Elias, Simon and Gabriella Wood, Ariana Avard, Alyssa and Logan Sigl, Alivia and Josh Valdez, Alayna Tramel, Jude, Avery, Kaedynce and Marlee Williams, Haven Williams, Landry Mullinax, Evan Pittman, Mikey, Preston, Melanie and Brantley McDonald; great grandchildren Paislee, Blaiklee, Kyler, Kyzer Sigl, Brinlee Valdez and new great grandson coming in three weeks, Luca Valdez; sisters, Margaret Foster of Krum, Texas, and Rebecca Stephenson and her husband Gary of Belton, Texas; and many more family members and good friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 22, 203, in Brown’s Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Bruce McLaughlin officiating. Interment services with military honors at Highland Cemetery with Dylan Kennedy, Tyler Kennedy, Ashley Torres, Zane Torres, Ronnie Dodd, and Mikey McDonald serving as casket bearers.
