Nadine (Whited) Brock was born Monday, August 3, 1942 in Davidson, Ark. to Sherman Whited and Thelma Mae (Lindsey) Whited. She passed from this life on Friday morning, July 15, 2022, at the age of 79.
Nadine worked almost 30 years at the Holiday Inn in Bridgeton, Mo. She waitressed, cooked and many other duties at the motel and never missed a day of work. Nadine was a hard worker and her work ethic was passed down to her son, Mark, whom says he never saw a harder worker than Mom. After her retirement, she moved to Colbert in 2007 to be close to Mark and other family members.
Nadine always had a big smile and never met a stranger. She enjoyed being with friends and fellowship with people. She was very independent and strong willed and could do anything she set her mind to. Nadine is a longtime member of the Jehovah’s Witness.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothy Meyers and Vernell Simpson; brothers, Jerry Whited and Landon Whited; and brother-in-law, Dale Simpson.
She is survived by her son, Mark Johnson and his wife, Cheryl, of Calera, Okla.; grandsons, Austin, Myles and Conner; brothers, Claude Whited of Arkansas and Joe Whited and his wife, Alma, of Louisiana.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 20, from 6-8 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant.
Funeral services to celebrate Nadine’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel in Durant. Officiant will be Mike Beagle.
Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service and Cremation.
