Laverna Dean (Wright) Satterfield of Sand Springs, Okla., passed from this life on Monday, February 28, 2022, at the age of 85. She was born on March 11, 1936 in Durant, Okla., to Thomas and Ebbie (Grinder) Wright and was the youngest of nine children. She married the love of her life, Donald Satterfield on June 26, 1954.
Laverna loved to travel and went on many adventures across the country with her beloved husband, Donald. They lived in many different states including Washington, California, Georgia, Delaware, Florida, and Texas before settling back in Oklahoma. She was thrilled to be able to travel abroad to England once with her husband and then again with one of her favorite nieces, Wilma Wright. She also cherished the many adventures of mother-daughter weekends with her daughter, Darla, and granddaughter, Amanda.
Donald and Laverna were so proud of their children, Kenneth David and Darla Kaye, and one very special nephew whom she loved like a son, Michael. Family meant the world to Laverna. She knew just how to make you feel welcomed in her home whether you were family, a friend, or one of the many people that Donald had found along the way and brought home to feed.
Laverna was an avid book reader and encouraged every child in her life to find a passion for reading and education. Many times you could find her cuddled up with a blanket, a good book, and her favorite cat. She worked for many years in the medical field and developed some of her best friendships with nurses and doctors along the way.
Laverna moved to Sand Springs with her daughter Darla and husband Carey nine years ago. She lived with them for the last several years of her life.
