First United
First United will host our second annual United Acts of Kindness day on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022. This year will be actually Durant’s first time to get involved and we wanted it to be very intentional and we want to get the community involved.
There are so many people who are giving of their time and efforts to be a part of this.
Janet Stafford, Marketing Manager, has been very involved in the coordination of getting our numerous schools and local businesses on board.
Brett Rogers, Regional Credit Officer, recently stated that, “Kindness can be as simple as smiling or opening the door for someone.”
One thing that we would like everyone to do is go to the website and sign up. Our goal for Bryan County is 25,000 acts of kindness and 100,000 overall. This may seems like a huge amount, but if we can get everyone involved then this goal is very manageable.
You can simply go to the website and sign up to perform these random acts of kindness. Our website can be found by CLICKING HERE!
We have a full day scheduled and hope that everyone will come out to the First United Bank at noon on Thursday. The main location is at 1400 W. Main in Durant. We have a hot dog cookout scheduled with Mayor Oden Grube. She will make a proclamation to declare United Acts of Kindness Day an annual event.
The ways to get involved with acts of kindness include, but certainly are not limited to: giving someone a thoughtful gift, holding the door open for someone, buy someone a cup of coffee, donating gently used or no longer needed items/clothes, smiling at someone at random, picking up the trash you see, telling a police officer how much you appreciate him or her, paying for someone else’s meal anonymously at a restaurant, giving up a parking space to someone and parking farther away, and more.
This should be a wonderful day full of events around Durant and hope that you can help us spread kindness throughout Bryan County.
