OKLAHOMA CITY – The Silo bats were a big part of wins in the first two games of the state tournament. On Saturday, the defense stepped up to help the Lady Rebels take home the trophy.
Silo earned a 3-1 win over Morrison in the Class 2A Fast-Pitch State Championship.
Christina Clark started in the circle and went 4.0 innings for the Lady Rebels, giving up four hits, while striking out two and walking none. Charley Hampton was brought in to work the fifth, and Clark came back in to close out the game.
Clark struck out one more in her return, the final Morrison batter of the game to seal the win.
Morrison managed to get runners on base, but the stingy Lady Rebel defense wouldn’t let them round the bases. Morrison left eight runners on base for the night.
Avery Beauchamp, Lexi McDonald and Hailey Cicio each recorded one hit and had an RBI with that hit.
Morrison scored in the top of the first, but Silo answered in the second and scored again in the third and fifth innings.
Silo finished the year with a record of 34-7 and brought home another softball championship. That made two for the day for Silo as the Rebels’ baseball team won a state championship, as well.
