Franklin Jasper Dickerson, of Tishomingo, Okla., was born Thursday, June 29, 1933 in Las Cruces, N.M. to James A. and Margaret (Rogers) Dickerson. He left this earthly life on Monday, Sept. 6, 2021 at the age of 88.
Frank was raised in New Mexico. It was there he met and married Sonja Faye Lewis on July 2, 1955 in Albuquerque, N.M. Frank worked as a farmer all of his life. He loved farming, coon hunting, fishing, and especially loved all of his grandkids. He enjoyed watching old Western shows and collecting arrowheads.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Sonja; his parents; a son, Sheldon Dickerson; sister, Lola Sutton; brothers, James Fate, George Albert, Carl David and John Lee.
He is survived by his daughters, Debra Walls and her husband, Gary, of Texarkana, Texas, Rhonda Rivera and her husband, Larry, of Fillmore, Okla., and Stephanie Dickerson of Marietta, Okla.; also eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandkids.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, at the Fillmore Church of the Nazarene in Fillmore, Okla. with Bro. Stuart Neal officiating.
Interment will follow at Fillmore Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Sonja. Serving as casket bearers will be David Dickerson, David Ballard, Monney Holder, James Dickerson, Brad Upchurch, and Roy Turnbull. Honorary casket bearers are Gavin Turnbull, Landon Turnbull, CJ Upchurch, Bradley Upchurch, Ethan Gibson and Tagan Gibson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 9, from 6-8 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant.
