Rev. Charles W. Loyd entered this life on May 31, 1934 in Roberta, Okla. born to Sparland William and Ola Irene (Boatner) Loyd. Charles entered the Gates of Heaven on January 23, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 86.
Charles graduated from Utica High School and Arlington Baptist College. He married his first wife of 34 years Alta in Durant, Okla., and after her passing married Zona and they were blessed with 27 years. He was a dedicated Minister for several churches and devoted his life to serving the Lord. He was very involved with the Bryan County Baptist Association and Disaster Relief. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling to Branson, Mo., and deer hunting.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Sparland and Ola Loyd; first wife, Alta Loyd; second wife, Zona Loyd; son, Eddie Loyd; brothers: Kenneth and Bill Loyd and Leon and Cleo Daniels; sisters: Patsy Morrison and Melba Hendricks.
Charles is survived by his son, Randy Loyd and wife Mary of Grapevine, Texas; son, Mike Loyd of Unicon, Tenn.; daughter, Sharon Groves and husband Randy of Groesbeck, Texas; brother, Glenn Loyd and wife Cathy of Durant, Okla.; grandchildren: Jennifer, Nick, Eric, Amanda and Caroline; great-grandchildren Anna, Wyatt and Riley.
Funeral services to honor the life of Rev. Charles W. Loyd will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel with David Hutchason officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery with Nick Loyd, Eric Groves, Josh Ringle, Brandon Loyd, Byron Loyd, Bryant Loyd and Jason Kramer serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at noon before the service.
