Lankford connects with more than 20,000 constituents regarding COVID-19

OKLAHOMA CITY –Senator James Lankford (R-OK) over the last two weeks has been committed to working with Oklahomans to help answer questions in regards to the federal and state response to COVID-19. Lankford has hosted telephone town halls with constituents around the state, hosted Facebook and Instagram videos to provide instant updates, engaged on video conferencing and conference call with community and industry leaders, has updated his website to provide the latest information, and is using his social media to push out reliable alerts regarding COVID-19. Lankford is committed to getting out the facts and help Oklahomans through this crisis.

“It’s important that during this emergency health crisis that we are able to get Oklahomans the information they need,” Lankford said. “My staff and I are working to ensure our website has updated information to help Oklahomans sort through a lot of the disinformation that is out there. As our state and nation transition to doing business through conference calls and videos, our office is using technology to connect with Oklahomans from across the state to hear their concerns and answer their questions and to provide assistance to people who need it.

On March 18, 2020, Lankford hosted a telephone town hall which 6,380 Oklahomans joined and on March 23, 2020, 7,406 constituents joined his second telephone town hall. Lankford will continue to host telephone town halls during the stay-at-home period and will update his website with information.

On Thursday, March 27, Lankford joined AARP Oklahoma as they hosted a telephone town hall with 6,902 of their members. Lankford has also connected with several state-wide associations throughout the state including Oklahoma grocery store owners (100 attendees), Associated Builders and Contractors (150); business owners in Wagoner, OK (11), Nursing Home Association (50); OK State Senators (55), OK State Representatives and staff (110); NFIB Small Business (75), Oklahoma Farm Bureau (150), Oklahoma Restaurant Association, including hotel, lodging and travel owners (100); Oklahoma Dental Association (54); Association of General Contractors (150); Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits (300); Oklahoma Manufacturing Alliance (100); Oklahoma Society of CPAs (100); Oklahoma Municipal League (250).
