Ziggy Shippman of Durant, Okla., passed away peacefully in his home on February 8, 2023 at the age of 83. He was born in Lahudow, Poland, on April 25, 1939 to Josef and Tekla Petecki. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Yeager, on May 10, 1960.
Ziggy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was later a lineman for the Cherokee Phone Company. In his retirement, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Durant.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Carolyn Shippman of Durant, Okla.; son, John Shippman and wife Susan of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughter, Carol McDaniel of Durant, Okla.; brother, Pete Petecki of Ardmore, Okla.; sister-in-law, Julia Petecki of Richardson, Texas, and brother-in-law Cim Yeager and wife Shirley of North Richland Hills, Texas; grandchildren: Jeffrey Shippman, Breanna Roach and husband Daniel, Megan Dickson and husband Ryan, Erin McDaniel, Lesley McDaniel, and Madesen McBride and husband Maxwell and his seven great-grandchildren with another one on the way.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Josef and Tekla Petecki; brother, Leslow Petecki; sister-in-law, Jean Rodgers; brothers-in-law, William Rodgers and Ralph Yeager; and son-in-law, Todd McDaniel.
Funeral service was held onFriday, February 10, 2023, at Faith Lutheran Church of Durant. Ziggy will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery following the funeral service.
Those serving as pallbearers were Jeffrey Shippman, Daniel Roach, Ryan Dickson, Maxwell McBride, Jeff Pilkilton, and Kevin Tuttle. Honorary pallbearers: Ronald McDonald and Stephen Finley.
Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 N. Fifth Ave. in Durant.
