DURANT – Directly off a top-10 finish at the NCAA Division II National Finals Zach James has been named a Division II PING First Team All-American.
It is the second-straight season to earn the honor, adding to his already impressive resume which includes named a finalist for the 2019 Division II Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award for the second-straight season and earned both all-region and All-American honors a year ago. He is a two-time Great American Conference Golfer of the Year and has twice been named Southeastern’s Most Outstanding Male Athlete.
James finished this week’s National Finals tournament tied for sixth, the highest finish ever by a Southeastern or Great American Conference golfer.
He fired a three-under-par 213 for the event, finishing six strokes of the top spot. After opening the week with a one-over 73, he bounced back with back-to-back under-par rounds of 70 to finish the event.
Through the 2018-19 season he earned seven GAC Player of the Week awards this season and is ranked third nationally.
He has picked up five individual titles in his 12 tournaments this season and has finished in the top two in nine of them.
His 70.20 average score over 35 rounds is bolstered by 16 scores in the 60’s and 25 rounds at par or better.
