Wesley Karr

Wesley “Sonny” Karr, a proud member of the Choctaw Nation was born October 26, 1934 to James and Rosie (Roberts) Karr, left this earth and joined his Savior on April 13, 2021 at the age of 86 years, 5 months 2 weeks old. He is home rejoicing with the Lord!

Wesley was known as “Sonny” his whole life. He was one of 11 children, his only remaining sibling is Dathney Greeno of Excelsior Springs, Mo. He never married and had no children, but his siblings and their children filled his life.

Wesley was a PFC veteran of the United States Army, and member of the Baptist faith. He worked at the local Peanut Company for 12 years, for the Milling Company for 10 years, and the rest of his time in the oil fields. He always enjoyed nature especially the quiet beauty of a day fishing at Lake Texoma.

“We prayed together, and I sang hymns to him,” said his great-niece Heather Karr. “We listened to bird in nature sounds on YouTube for hours on loop. He was happy and at peace when God called him home. I drove back and forth to McAlester every day to be with him. The family has been ready. He was ready to go home because his earthly body was tired. His family is rejoicing because he is no longer suffering or imprisoned in his human body. God is good! His life did not end, it just began!”

There will be no viewing. He wanted people to remember him the way he was when he was healthy. Wesley will be cremated. He requested a trip to Nevada and California; his great-niece Heather will keep her word to him and take him. Wesley will spend time in Nevada with his nephew, Joe Karr, then his remains will come back to Oklahoma and be laid to rest in Calera, Oklahoma at a later date.
