Weldon Louie McCleskey of Calera, Okla. passed away at his home on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019 at the age of 80. Weldon was born on Nov. 18, 1938 in Calera to L.H. and Jennice Mead McCleskey.
Weldon graduated from Calera High School in 1957. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959 until his Honorable discharge in 1964 at the rank of Sergeant. Weldon married Diana Manners on March 26, 1980 in Greenville, Texas and they have been truly blessed with 39 plus years together.
He worked as a machinist and electrician until his retirement. He was a member of the Little Dixie Shriners, a 50 year member of the Masonic Rising Star Lodge No. 129, Calera Eastern Star No. 490 and the Elks Lodge No. 1963. He was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation and a member of the Chickasaw Warriors.
Weldon was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Kenneth Lowry.
Weldon is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Diana McCleskey of the home; children, Neil McCleskey and wife Mary, Patricia Marshall and husband Ron, Larry McCleskey and wife Jennie and step-son, Kenneth Brister and wife Kathy; sisters, Lou Ella Lowry and Paula Rueter and husband Sid; sister-in-law, Sherry Shimeld and husband Charlie; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Donnie Hyde will officiate. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with Quinton Jones, Dan Early, Shawn Springer, Butch Scalf, Billy Sprouse and Jeff Wilson serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elmer Rogers, Kenny Ervin, Terry Hutchings, Larry Conditt, Dave McGehee, Sam Goodwin and Oscar Sweeney. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.
