F. Wayne Coston, Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, left this earthly life on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020 at the age of 75 years 6 months and 10 days. He was born in Honey Grove, Texas on Wednesday, June 13, 1945, to Felton Calvin Coston and Flora Addie (Shields) Coston.
Wayne married his beloved Linda Castle on May 28, 1965 in Dodd City, Texas.
Wayne began his career teaching at Kreuger Junior High in San Antonio, Texas. After completing his Masters degree, he worked at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla. where he taught political science, and completed his time at Southeastern in the Audio Visual department, supporting distance learning. After retiring from Southeastern, he worked in the Language Department of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. He then retired to spend time with his wife and family.
Wayne enjoyed Amateur Radio (WA5EEP) and was a member of the Kiwanis Club for numerous years. He also enjoyed photography and was constantly taking pictures of his family. Wayne loved the movies, and not just watching them but all the behind-the-scenes trivia and details. He liked the James Bond series as well as the Star Wars series. Spending time with family and friends was very important to him. Wayne enjoyed his coffee groups and their avid discussions.
Mr. Coston is survived by his cherished daughter, Cheryl (Coston) Wood and husband Chris of Bonham, Texas; son, Felton Wayne Coston, Jr., of Austin, Texas; grandsons: Jon Wood and fiancé Savanah Hoback of Bonham, Texas, Michael Wood and Leah Heit of Santa Ana, Calif., and David Wood and wife Rachel of Georgetown, Texas, and great-grandson, Barret Wood of Bonham, Texas.
Mr. Coston was preceded in death by his parents, Felton and Flora Coston, and wife, Linda Coston.
A celebration of his life and memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021 at the Willow Wild Cemetery, 1220 W. 7th Street, Bonham, Texas 75418.
