Wanda Jean Hyde was born on March 7, 1947 in Hayward, Calif. to Opal and Sam Percell. She left this world on March 22, 2021 at 5:10 p.m. in Plano, Texas and now resides in heaven with her beloved son Clay.
She moved to Durant with her mother and siblings when she was just a baby, and has continued to live there throughout her life. She lived with Doug and Jarod, and traveled between their homes in Mead, Okla. (“the farm house”) and in Prosper, Texas. She loved being at all of them for different reasons—serenity at the “farm house” and the excitement, shopping and dining in Prosper and surrounding areas.
Wanda was a follower of Christ, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, an extraordinary cook and baker, and loved to travel—Paris, France was her favorite place in the world. She had a “green thumb” when it came to gardening, an “eye for design,” was a great artist and a published poet. She enjoyed music and dancing. She loved her “fur babies”—Maverick (aka “Bitty”) and Bella, they made her smile every day. She loved being home with her family most of all— knowing her great grandson Jarod Kash was there kept her going each day.
Words cannot express the extent of her talents, the immense love she shared with her family and friends, the joy she brought to all whose lives she touched. She is loved beyond measure and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing her. The strength she has shown throughout her life, along with her one-of-a-kind qualities will be her legacy to us all. We were blessed beyond measure to have had her for 74 years and look forward to the day we will once again be reunited at the gates of Heaven.
I leave you with this, in the words of your favorite singer, Tina Turner: “You’re simply the best…”
