Virginia M. Pena was born on Oct. 8, 1926, in Los Angeles, Calif. to Samuel Ray Sumner and Fannie Mae (Parker) Sumner, and left this life on Dec. 19, 2021, at the age of 95.
Virginia was born and raised in Southern California, she moved to Oklahoma in 1962. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to read her bible and watch preaching on the TV. Virginia also like to crochet, work crossword puzzles, sing hymns, and listen to gospel music. She loved to travel, making many trips to Oregon and Washington during the later years of her life, she always took a different route to see the different sites. Virginia was a member of the Caddo First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Pena is survived by her children, Chuck Hickey and wife Linda of Kent, Wash., Norman Hickey and wife Carol of Hugo, Ore., Gini Lively and husband Wally of Blanco, Texas, David Hickey and wife Nina of San Antonio, Texas, Vangie Wingfield and husband Mike of Durant, Okla., Bill Pena and wife Shelia of Durant, Okla. and John Pena and wife Tana of Durant, Okla.; 27 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Pena was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Tim Hickey and Dean Pena, brothers, Ben, Norman, Mike and Vic Sumner, sisters, Linora Wallace and Gloria Sumner.
Family hour will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.
A funeral service to honor her life will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 22 at the Roberta Baptist Church in Roberta with Bro. Mike Wingfield officiating. Her final resting place will be the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Okla., with David Hickey, Michael Lane Wingfield, Owen Wilson, Dylan Bromagem, Kasyn Fults, and Jason Owens as her pallbearers.
Services are under the direction of Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Okla.
